Playing tennis in cold
Playing in cold weather is not as bad as it might seem. The body has a remarkable capacity to warm up quickly. Once you get into the flow of a match or practice session, the cold temperature is not really a serious factor. Cold weather combined with strong winds is another story. Here are some suggestions to help you adjust to cold-weather conditions:
Dress in layers and shed or add clothes as the exercise or weather intensity increases.
Take as much time as allowed to warm up and get used to the cold weather.
Don’t take the full 90 seconds on changeovers unless you need it.
Use a cut-out sock or glove on your dominant hand to keep it warm.
Use heat packs designed to keep your hands warm.
Wear a hat or cap to prevent heat loss.
Drink fluids (warm, if desired) to stay hydrated.
